Anybody in the film business knows that you won’t get far without gaffers tape.

However, it was a lack of gaffers tape that helped create one of the most thrilling scenes in a hit movie this fall.

When producers were working on the script for Gravity, starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, they talked to real astronauts about how problems were solved in space.

When the discussion turned to what would happen if an astronauts suit was punctured, the answer was “grab some gaffers tape and put it on the puncture”.

If you’ve seen the film, then you know that what might have seemed simple in real life, is anything but that in the movies.
