Don’t Want White Or Black Smoke? It Comes In 16 Colors
There’s lots of buzz about this week’s Vatican conclave and thousands wait for the traditional black or white smoke from the Sistine Chapel chimney that announces another vote by the Cardinals has been taken.
The smoke is generated by a stove that is specially installed in the chapel to burn the ballots after every vote.
A sharp eyed Vatican watcher has noted that stove, first used in 1939, is set up on a piece of particle board that is taped to the marble floor with gaffers tape.
