A ruling by the government body in Australia that monitors advertising has mandated that posts on Facebook pages that are owned and managed by company brands must comply with advertising rules and regulations regarding posts on the page, regardless of who makes them.
Even if the post is done by a fan or a competitor, the brand owner is responsible for insuring that the posts are correct, not misleading and in compliance with advertising regulations.
Critics of the new regulations compare the new rules to “slapping gaffers tape” across the mouths of marketers.
