$2000 Bicycle Wheel Has A Secret-Gaffers Tape

High end bike whell manufacturer HED makes a carbon fiber wheel that costs over $2000. Their “Big Deal” wheel weighs only 450 grams.

In order to prevent the inner spoke nipples from causing the wheel to leak, the rim is lined with gaffers tape before the tire is mounted.
