In an interview about the future of Hollywood, film mogul Steven Spielberg let it be known that it was only after he discovered gaffers tape that his career really took off.

Discussing his earliest film efforts, using an 8 millimeter camera, Spielberg admitted that he lit his first sets using floodlights held to stands with scotch tape, because he had never heard of gaffers tape.
