No Gaffers Tape = No MTV
An article in The National recognizing the 30th anniversary of MTV has proven once and for all that without gaffers tape, MTV would have never gotten off the ground.
The article, penned by Saul Austerlitz, recognizes Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen as on of the early videos that got MTV up and running. More specificaly, Austerlitz references director Bruce Gowers use of gaffers tape to attach a prism to the camera lens, giving the the video its famous magnifying effect.
