A 10k race to raise money for the Shooting Star Chase hospice in Hampton, England drew a couple of unique approaches to getting around the course.

Alex Bloom and James Perkins, students at Hampton School, chose to ski the course rather than run it, even though there was no snow.

Strapping their skis to their feet with gaffers tape, the boys stared adversity in the face and finished the course on their homemade skis fashioned from plywood and skateboard wheels. What they thought would take about an hour ended up taking over four.
