The Galway Independent reports that European car manufacturers are getting less than accurate mileage ratings on new cars with a trick that uses gaffers tape.

By selectively covering gaps between body panels and reducing the size of air intakes, they are able to temporarily improve the cars aerodynamics and thus improve fuel economy.

Don’t expect to see these mods in place when you visit the showroom.
